To Calm Populations Paul Biya Should Have Visited Anglophone Regions Of Cameroon, says Maurice Kamto

According to the president of the CRM, this approach which would put him in direct listening to the claims is likely to reassure the populations.

“Since the launch of the CRM in 2012, the party has said that there is an” anglophone problem “in our country and that this problem had to be resolved through dialogue“, writes the CRM in a recent release.

The political group headed by Maurice Kamtodeplores the fact that the Government has not listened to its warning bell, while this would have prevented the outbreak of the crisis in November 2016.

Even until then, the President of the Republic had the possibility of catching up by going to the parts of the country concerned by this crisis.

Such an initiative, according to the party of Maurice Kamto, would have allowed the Head of State to reassure the populations, to listen directly to the demands in order to bring the most appropriate solutions to their evil being within the nation.

The CRM advocates “the establishment by Paul Biya of a framework of open and sincere dialogue in which all the grievances and demands of our Anglophone compatriots and the imperatives of building a united nation must be expressed, knowing that secession Is not an option “.

In this framework of dialogue, “Our Anglophone compatriots should be represented, in particular by their legitimate leaders, that is to say, those who recognize the populations of the North-West and South-West“.

“This dialogue framework,” he adds, “should make it possible to identify, together, solutions approved by each other and to resolve once and for all the Anglophone problem within the framework of a reconciled and strong Cameroon. “

Another proposal by Maurice Kamto to escape the crisis was the establishment by Paul Biya of a political delegation composed of religious leaders, traditional leaders representing all regions of the country (one per region), representatives of political parties in parliament.

“This political delegation with a message of peace and compassion to our brothers and sisters in the English-speaking part of our country should travel to the northwest and southwest regions to make our fellow citizens understand that the nation, of which they are an integral part, heard their tears and that it came to wipe their tears “, writes the CRM.

The party hopes that the sending of this political delegation will be accompanied by measures of appeasement and confidence, including the unconditional release of those arrested in connection with this so-called anglophone crisis.
