Chief withholds wheelchairs for disabled people because ZBC was not there
CHIKOMBA – Eight disabled people from Chivhu had to go back home without wheel chairs and clutches donated to them by Jairosi Jiri Association because ZTV was not there to cover the event. The disabled people received the consignment last Thursday but they may have to wait for a week or two until Chief Musarurwa who is also a Senator gets a ZTV crew to cover the donation.
The wheelchairs and crutches were donated to the people living with disabilities who are currently residing in Southview and at Tazviita Disabled Association Settlement.“It will be good for the whole nation to witness the handover of the donations. Therefore, I will take back all these donations then set another date, maybe in one week or two weeks’ time, and invite a number of media houses for coverage. The event can be broadcast on the national television (ZTV)”, said Chief Musarurwa.
He said he will invite more government departments’representatives and re-invite the Jairois Jiri officials, for another official handover of the donations.

After the handover of the wheelchairs and crutches, the beneficiaries were ordered to leave the donations at the council hall so that when Chief Musarurwa sets a date, they will be re-handed to them. They complied.
During the handover ceremony, Mapira said people living with disabilities should be encouraged to be self-reliant.
The beneficiaries said they were grateful to the Jairosi Jiri Association, Chief Mutekedza and Chipo Muteve, who is the head of the Mustard Seed Ministries, who facilitated the donations.
Crispen Magwaza, who got a wheel chair, said, “I never thought I could be recognised and be given such a valuable asset in my life. I do not know how to express my gratitude. I want to thank all those who took their time so that we could get the donations.”
