Wiley tweets he's scrapping his album, then changes his mind

Grime artist Wiley sent a tweet announcing that he was scrapping his upcoming album, before swiftly changing his mind.

He deleted the tweet, which read: "I'm not dropping an album any more. Pointless I reckon."

He then tweeted confirming the album's release date.

Providing he doesn't change his mind again, Wiley's 11th studio album The Godfather will be out on Friday 2 September.

How Stormzy's Oxford talk went

Wiley appeared to be offering himself out for other projects on Thursday.

He left this tweet on his account and fans were quick to reply with suggestions of what he could do.

"I'd love to get you on some weird off-tempo ambient track," tweeted one.

Another said they'd "love to work with you and my hip-hop orchestra".

Wiley's new album name seems to allude to the fact that he's often called the "godfather of grime".

It was his 2008 single Wearing My Rolex that took Wiley to a mainstream audience, reaching number two on the Official Album Chart, but he's been active on the grime scene since then.

He's also part of the Boy Better Know grime label that was started by brothers Skepta and Jme in 2005.

Wiley's autobiography is also reportedly due out around the time of his album release.
