Presidential 2018: Maurice Kamto Makes a Surprising Announcement
The president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon spoke during an interview broadcast on a television of the place.
Professor Maurice Kamto, president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), gave the position of the party he is the leader on the various topics that affect the socio-political news of Cameroon. It was in an interview with Equinox Television on March 1, 2018.Asked about the teachers' strike which led to the arrest of some of them, Maurice Kamto considers that this situation is "unacceptable". He explained by examples that teachers make legitimate claims and lament that in return they had only the "baton" and the "dungeon". "The teachers who are now embassed are Cameroonians who work and who deserve to receive their salary," he says.

In view of this situation, the politician demands that Cameroonians massively plebiscite the opposition in the upcoming elections, to give "an honorable exit" to the regime in place. To do this, he called for an "opposition coalition" around his candidacy, and said he was opposed to "a single opposition candidacy".
"On the occasion of each election it is said if the opposition does not have a single candidate it will fail. In fact it is to sign immediately the failure of the opposition because we know that there will never be a single candidate. And even if the opposition manages to find a single candidate, the power will elicit other candidates so there are no single candidates, "he says.
The leader of the MRC nevertheless points out that he is not yet the candidate of his party, and that he will run for the primaries to be held in April, during the convention. "I am a candidate for membership in my political party. I hope that on the occasion of the convention of my party, convention which is held in ordinary session on April 13th, 14th and 15th, I will be able to count on the confidence of my comrades to invest me as their candidate ", he says.
After having declared forfeit for senatorial elections, Maurice Kamto reassures that his party will indeed participate in other upcoming events namely the legislative and the presidential elections.
