English Crisis: Paul Biya Alone In The Face Of Pressure From The Rest Of The World

The highly respected Senator Mukete, whose steadfast fidelity to Biya and the role in the construction of the system is known, has argued in a recent interview with the continental newspaper Jeune Afrique that only a 10-state federation could solve the English problem, and that it should be used as soon as the country has the means.

But to observe, who can say that this very simple speech is not in fact the thought of the Head of State himself? This is very clearly a question of keeping one's position regarding the decentralization of the whole of Cameroon and maintaining its pace, while providing the concession of the "federation".

Proof that technically, even for the Head of State, the unitary Cameroon, it's over!

In reality, President Biya does not deny himself: he does not adhere to the secessionist and confederalist theses who see things from a dualist "Francophone / Anglophone" perspective.
English Crisis: Paul Biya Alone In The Face Of Pressure From The Rest Of The World
It remains in the logic of the construction of the State of Cameroon and transforms this federalization into a higher stage of the evolution of the country and not a retreat.
This sudden interview of the Senate Dean in Jeune Afrique, just at this moment, can not be a coincidence. The Government is under pressure from the United Nations, the United States, the Commonwealth, Nigeria and South Africa, all of whom have asked him to return to the 1961 Federation.

The country has made too much commitment with its investments and the NAC is approaching, placing on the regime the terrible humiliation of being deported elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Caisses de l'Etat are empty and the IMF begins to decry these perfectly useless expenses.

On the other hand, this war that has never aroused the support of Cameroonians is provoking more and more disapproval, with its human, material and financial costs! The Secessionists, who were thought to be reduced by a vacation resort, prove to be more resilient than expected, and the weather obviously plays in their favor.

Even those who pushed the Government to a hard line, with noisy demonstrations of "one and indivisible Cameroon" and "non-negotiable state form" went on like a bugle in the water.

And significant threats weigh on this year's elections and especially the presidential election.
In these conditions, what does a political beast like Biya do? He skilfully pulls the lessons and starts an operation to get out of his head!

And that's exactly what I see in this diabolical strategy of these old folks!

As I said at the outset, Cameroon will be federal, necessary for its survival, and it will be sooner than we think. Because his "unitarian" partisans do not know man!
He will leave them on the road!
Without the slightest state of mind!

It would not be the first time that he will abandon the pack of opportunists who thought to please him!
