Ghost Town Rocks Southern Cameroons

The Southern Cameroons crisis is far from over as a massive civil disobedience campaign reportedly rocked the entire territory. 

After a pause that was announced by the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium during the Assumption Day rituals, Cameroon Intelligence Report can now reveal that ghost town operation was staged in all Southern Cameroons counties today Monday the 21st of August 2017.

The boycott was widely followed in the cities of Bamenda, Limbe, Buea, Kumba, Mamfe, Menji, Mundemba, Bali and Kumbo considered as the epicenters of the Anglophone uprising.

In Buea, Bamenda, Muyuka, Tiko and Mamfe all activities were paralyzed. No market or shop was opened. The same held for the transportation industry. The leaderships of the Southern Cameroons Governing Council and the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium have announced that the ghost towns will continue as usual for three days (from Monday to Wednesday) each week, until further notice. All academic establishments will remain closed until the the Biya Francophone Beti Ewondo regime releases all Southern Cameroonians detained in French Cameroun cells.

The Francophone regime is losing its grip on West Cameroon as the situation becomes more complex. A school was burned today Monday in Babesi located in the Bamenda County bringing to 10, the number of schools destroyed in Southern Cameroons in just two weeks.

As a reminder, the Southern Cameroons revolution started in November 2016 due to corporatist claims by teachers and lawyers. Since then, the situation has hardened with the arrest and imprisonment of the leaders of the protest.

This has resulted in the paralysis of commercial and school activities in Southern Cameroons. Dialogue is stalled and no credible and consensual solution for the parties is envisaged at this time.
