7 jobs you never knew paid really, really well

There are some careers that people look at and think, ‘strange’. Yet, many people who have jobs outside the mainstream are laughing all the way to the bank

A while ago we told you about bizarre jobs you never knew existed, and while some of them were bizarre they didn’t necessarily pay very well. We’ve rounded up a few jobs that are both odd and very well paid:

Online survey participant

People don’t just keenly take part in surveys of any kind. So, why not create bait... by making it a job?! One which pays over R500 per hour sounds good. Ever since this job came into existence, it has been a rapidly growing job market, and surveys are actually being completed.

Bubblegum busters
There should be a cartoon network programme dedicated to these people. Without them, we’d find ourselves in lots of sticky situations. Their job (with the aid of machines) is to remove bubblegum from surfaces. They can earn up to $400 (equivalent to R4700 odd) per session – depending on the labour involved. Not too shabby.

Adult store assistant

This job entails cleaning up booths, which were occupied by people watching pornographic material. Sounds pretty disgusting to say the least, but apparently this should be worth it as it pays about R300 000 a year. Wow!

Dog food taster

Sounds gross, but the $40 000 (R400 000) a year salary should make it worthwhile.

Fortune cookie writer

If you have writer’s block for this job, you’ll be in big trouble. Nobody wants any deductions from a $75 060 (R800 000 odd) salary, now do they?

Crime scene cleaner

Remember the film Sunshine Cleaning? This is one of the weirdest, yet challenging jobs ever. This job entails cleaning up blood and many other bodily fluids, after the necessary evidence has been collected, of course. At least this six-figure job pays up to $80 000 per year (over 800 000 ZAR).
