China to Assist Malawi in Agriculture

Lilongwe — People's Republic of China Ambassador to Malawi, Shiting Wang, Friday said his country will support Malawi in agriculture sector. 

Speaking after presenting his letters of credence to Malawi's State President Professor Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, Shitting said Malawi has potential in agriculture, but faces a lot of challenges.

"We will help Malawi in agriculture by providing technological ways to enhanced productivity explained Shiting," adding that his government has already started providing knowledge in agriculture technology transfer centre.

He also said that his country will continue supporting Malawi in infrastructure developed as they have already produced concrete results.

China to Assist Malawi in Agriculture

"China has helped in the construction of new Parliament building, Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC), Five Star Hotel, Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), Bingu International Stadium and Presidential villas these are some of the concrete infrastructure results," Shiting said.

He further said his country has also helped in the training of 500 human resource personnels, providing scholarships to students to study in various fields and technology transfer.

Shiting also said in two months time China will hold a candle off investment forum which would bring potential investors from China to invest in the country.

Malawi and China has been in relationships for eight years and pledges to push it to new heights.
