A 62-year-old man recently killed himself by hanging on a tree branch after a row with his wife after over a suspected girlfriend.

Police confirmed the incident, adding that no foul play was suspected.

Chipinge district police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera said the now deceased, Henry Sibanda of Machiya village, Gumira, under Chief Musikavanhu hanged himself with a rope.

He said last Wednesday, Sibanda had a misunderstanding with his wife Mavis Chikati, 59, after she discovered the contact details of some local woman on his phone.

Sibanda's body was discovered a day later hanging from a tree by Masodzi Simango,30, and Sarah Dube,35, from the same village.

A report was made to police at Chisumbanje/Checheche police base and the body was conveyed to St Peters hospital mortuary for post mortem.

"We urge member of the public to seek counselling from elders in the community. Suicide is not the solution," said Kadzuraumera.
