Chicken Inn Fined

ZIMBABWE'S CAF Champions League débutantes Chicken Inn yesterday said they were caught by surprise after they were fined $5 000 by the continental football body for the violent conduct of their players in their match against Mamelodi Sundowns two months ago.

The Gamecocks, who lost the match 2-0 to bow out of the competition, hinted they did not expect sanctions but will stand guided by ZIFA on the way forward.

Chicken Inn conceded a late penalty to the South African champions, who overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit.

But the behaviour of their players, who mobbed Malagasy referee Andofetra Avombitana Rakotojaona protesting the official's decision at the end of the game, has come back to haunt them.
The club's secretary Tavengwa Hara said they will comply with the CAF Disciplinary Board's decision.
